1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("You") and Thimble, operated by the Thimble Editorial Desk ("We", "Us", "Our"), regarding your use of thimble.info and all content, newsletters and services offered through it (together, the "Site").
You accept these Terms when You:
- access, browse or read any page of the Site;
- subscribe to The Sunday Edit or any other mailing list;
- submit content, a tip, a correction or an enquiry to our desk; or
- tick an acceptance box (where one is presented) or otherwise indicate consent.
If You do not agree with any part of these Terms, or if You are not legally able to enter into this agreement, You must not use the Site. Your use of the Site also requires acceptance of our Privacy Policy, which explains how We handle Your personal data.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 16 years of age, or the age of digital consent in Your country if it is higher, to subscribe to our newsletter or submit content to Us.
Thimble is currently an open publication: reading our editorial requires no registration. Where an account feature is made available, You are responsible for any activity that occurs under Your account, for keeping Your credentials secure, and for telling Us promptly at legal@thimble.info if You suspect unauthorised use.
We grant You a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to access and use the Site for its intended purposes, subject to these Terms. This licence does not transfer any ownership to You.
3. User Rules, Rights & Responsibilities
You agree to comply with all laws, rules and regulations applicable to Your use of the Site. The following table sets out what You may and may not do.
| Permission | What it means |
|---|---|
| You may | Read, print and share links to our articles for personal, non-commercial use. |
| You may | Quote short extracts (up to 100 words) with visible attribution and a link back to the article. |
| You may | Subscribe to, and unsubscribe from, our newsletter at any time. |
| You must not | Copy, republish or translate substantial parts of the Site without our written permission. |
| You must not | Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, harvest or mirror the Site, or use its content to train machine-learning or AI models, without a licence. |
| You must not | Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, or interfere with the Site, its servers or networks. |
| You must not | Post or transmit unlawful, defamatory, infringing, obscene or misleading material, or impersonate our editorial staff. |
| You must not | Use the Site to advertise, spam, solicit, or run unauthorised promotional activity. |
| You must not | Circumvent, disable or interfere with any security feature, paywall or access control. |
You are responsible for Your own equipment, internet connection and any costs associated with accessing the Site, and for ensuring that Your use of the Site is lawful in the country You are reading from.
4. Editorial Content & No Professional Advice
Our reviews, guides, rankings and brand stories are the opinions of our editorial team at the time of publication. They are provided for general information and entertainment purposes only, and are not:
- Purchasing or investment advice — prices, availability and resale values change constantly; always verify before buying.
- Medical or podiatric advice — our comfort and fit commentary is experiential, not clinical; consult a professional for foot health concerns.
- Legal or financial advice of any kind.
We work hard to keep facts accurate and will correct verified errors promptly. Where a brand provides a sample pair for review, We disclose it in the article.
5. Intellectual Property
The Site and its original content — articles, reviews, photography direction, layout, design, logos, headlines and compilation — are and remain the exclusive property of Thimble and its licensors, protected by copyright, database rights and trademark law.
- Our name, the Thimble logo and our trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without Our prior written consent.
- Systematic reproduction, translation, aggregation or resale of our content is prohibited without a written licence.
- Brand names, house names and product references belong to their respective owners and are used for identification, commentary and criticism.
- Publicly sourced imagery is used under its applicable licence and remains the property of its creators.
If You believe material on the Site infringes Your copyright, send a notice to legal@thimble.info with: Your contact details, a description of the work, the exact URL of the material, a statement of good-faith belief, a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that You are authorised to act, and Your signature. We will investigate and, where appropriate, remove the material.
6. User Content & Submissions
If You post, email or otherwise make available content to Us ("User Content" — for example a comment, correction, tip or photograph), You grant Us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, edit, publish, display and distribute that content in connection with the Site. You retain all ownership of Your User Content.
You are solely responsible for Your User Content, including its legality, reliability and appropriateness, and You confirm that You have the rights necessary to grant the licence above. We may remove or decline to publish any User Content at Our discretion, without notice. We do not pay for unsolicited submissions.
7. Third-Party Links, Affiliates & Advertising
The Site links to brand boutiques, retailers and other sites that We do not own or control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, privacy policies or practices, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on that site.
Some articles contain affiliate links, which may earn Us a commission at no additional cost to You. Affiliate relationships never influence our editorial scoring, rankings or verdicts, and are disclosed within the relevant article. The Site may also display advertising provided by third parties; see our Privacy Policy for how to opt out of personalised advertising.
8. Termination, Suspension & Account Deletion
By Us. We may suspend or terminate Your access to the Site, or remove Your account or subscription, immediately and without prior notice where You breach these Terms, where required by law, or where necessary to protect the Site, our readers or third parties.
By You — deactivation and deletion. You may stop using the Site at any time. Where an account exists, You may deactivate it from Your account settings or by emailing legal@thimble.info; deactivation is confirmed within 7 days and permanent deletion of the account and its associated personal data follows within 30 days, except for records We must keep by law.
Newsletter. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, or You may email privacy@thimble.info; we process unsubscribe requests within 5 working days.
On termination, the rights and licences granted to You end immediately, and all provisions which by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, dispute resolution and governing law — remain in force.
9. Disclaimers
YOUR USE OF THE SITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. THE SITE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that any information — including prices, stock availability, sizing and specifications — is complete, current or accurate at the moment You read it.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THIMBLE, ITS EDITORS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR ACCESS TO, USE OF, OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SITE, OR FROM ANY PURCHASE YOU MAKE THROUGH A THIRD-PARTY LINK.
Where liability cannot be excluded, Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms is limited to the greater of EUR 100 or the amount You have paid Us, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any statutory consumer rights You hold in Your country of residence.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Thimble and its editors, officers, employees, agents, partners and licensors from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your use of the Site, Your User Content, or Your breach of these Terms or of any applicable law or third-party right.
12. Dispute Resolution
Step 1 — Contact Us first. Most concerns can be resolved quickly. Email legal@thimble.info with a description of the issue. We will acknowledge within 14 days and aim to resolve within 30 days.
Step 2 — Good-faith negotiation. If the matter is unresolved, both parties agree to attempt to settle it through good-faith negotiation for a further 30 days before starting formal proceedings.
Step 3 — Mediation or courts. Either party may then propose mediation or arbitration. If that fails, the dispute shall be brought before the courts identified in section 13. Each party bears its own costs unless the court decides otherwise.
Consumers in the European Union may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform, and consumers in Brazil may use Consumidor.gov.br or their local PROCON. Nothing in this section removes any mandatory consumer protection available to You.
13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or with the Site, are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, to the exclusion of its conflict-of-laws rules and of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
The courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, except that:
- if You act as a consumer, You retain the protection of the mandatory consumer law of Your country of residence and may bring proceedings there where the law allows; and
- We may seek injunctive or interim relief in any competent jurisdiction to protect Our intellectual property or the Site.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may modify or replace these Terms at Our discretion, for example to reflect changes in the Site, Our services or the law. When We do:
- We update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page;
- for material changes, We provide at least 30 days' notice by a visible notice on the Site or by email to subscribers, where reasonably practicable;
- Your continued access to or use of the Site after the revised Terms take effect means You accept them. If You do not agree, You must stop using the Site and may cancel any subscription before the change takes effect.
15. Miscellaneous
these Terms and Our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between You and Us regarding the Site, and supersede any prior agreement on the same subject.
- Severability: if any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force.
- No waiver: failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms; We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or transfer of assets.
- Force majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond Our reasonable control.
- No partnership: these Terms do not create any agency, partnership or employment relationship.
